Discuss Garage Receptacle Height? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

In the U.K. we don’t generally allow sockets (recepticals) where there are explosive gasses.

Or use intrinsically safe outlets and equipment (eg ATEX) where classification/ regulations permit?
I don't know about height, but the type of outlet/connector matters.

DIYer here. Can somebody tell me what the required height is for receptacles in a garage due to possible flammable vapors? Thanks
I need more information because it sounds like you have a class 1 division 1 environment especially if flammable vapors are present. You need to install them 18 inches to the bottom of the receptacle.

Actually its going to be a detached wood shop 40'x50', but I will be parking 2 vehicles on the other side of the shop. A friend mentioned since you are parking vehicles there is a potential risk of gasoline vapors say something leaked. So he said put them up high. I was just wondering how high do I have to put them in this case. The ones in my attached garage are at 28" from the bottom of the boxes. Thanks

28 inches should be fine. Good luck
