Hi,

I need to purchase new LED downlights. What are good brands to consider?

Which online suppliers / electrical stores do you like using? I am based in London.

Many thanks!

I don't like to fit them any more. I get a minimum of 20% fail (and have had 100% fail). Its all well and good having a guarantee and the manufacturer replacing the lamps, but I'm sick of being called back to replace them (time that I can't bill for!)

If you're not installing LED's, what other options are you using? High failure rates usually indicate poor quality lamps or drivers are being used, we've also experienced this in the past with materials that have been supplied by the customer who thinks he's found a bargain.

For sealed unit led downlights try KSR firebreak led range, JCC lighting, and Aurora M range. All good quality lights with a good warranty length.

Walsh builders

give the guarantee to the owner of the lamp. Then when it fails and they need it replacing, they can get it, and then ask you how much it will be to come and do it.......

Would be interested to hear what products you have had these problems with.

Why can't you bill for your time?
I doubt any customers will be willing to pay for the job twice. Covering for warranty failures should be part of your price mark up, and also a good reason to only fit good quality products in the first place.

I am going to go with the Aurora mSeries range. It comes in three colour temperatures;
Colour Lumens
2700k 360
3000k 400
4000k 435
Anyone familiar with what these actually equate to? Not sure which one to go with, I am looking for warm white.

Thanks

Are these for your own home, for a customers home, a shop, restaurant? Where they are going to be fitted is was matters, if domestic a lot comes down to what room and customers taste, if commercial then there are variations as well, you'd never fit Cool White (4000k) in a restaurant for example.
