Evening all,
Just a technical question, I repaired a heat mat today with heat shrink that was supplied in the repair kit. It was very stiff compared to regular heat shrink.
Am I right in thinking that it is stiffer to offer more cable protection but still has the same properties as regular heat shrink. Just wondering what the difference in specs is.

Was it adhesive lined? The hot melt glue in adhesive lined shrink makes quite a big difference to the rigidity.

I would think it would be to ensure a good water tight seal around the repair.

You also get different thickness of heat shrink sleeve and different shrink ratios as well, some of which feel much more stiff than the general purpose shrink sleeve sold at most wholesalers.
