Hi All

I've been lurking round here for a good few months now and wanted to say hello.

I'm in my mid thirties and have gone to college on an evening for the last three years to study to become an electrician. Started off with a EAL Level 2 PEO course, then a City & Guilds Level 2 and finished the C & G Level 3 this summer. Nobody's heard of the EAL course but it's what the college told me I needed to do at the time I was looking to become a Electrician. I passed the 17th edition wiring regulations exam this summer and have completed the study week part of the C & G 2394/5 Inspection/Testing, waiting to do the exams at the end of this month.

I had no work related electrical experience until 2 years ago when I started working for a lighting contractor mainly relamping, upgrading control gear and changing fittings. They made me redundant earlier this year so i'm now working through agency's trying get experience while I take and wait for the results of the inspection/testing exams.

The college I was at advised me to go for the 2394/5 qualifications as I don't have the NVQ and as I understand it this way i'll be able to sign my own work off. I've not got the experience or the confidence to do too much on my own so I'm hoping to get a permanent job working for someone in the future.

I've plenty of question about the exams but i'll save them for the right section.

Cheers

Casfan
