do you have access to the junction box where the ring is connected to the 6mm cable? have you done a r1,rn and r2 continuity test of the RFC?

Yes my next question after the OP confirming the ZE reading would have been about the Joint Box, good point there Bud.

If it's a ring to radial it isn't going to be straight forward end to end, how have you tested it?

Well the OCPD needs to be able to protect the cable, it may or maynot be okay, a 20 or 32 would be the choice of many I am sure, what we need from the OP is the following 3 ansers to the 3 questions below

(1) how did you measure the ZE
(2) are you 100% sure the ZS was at the furthest point on the circuit
(3) Have you inspected the JB to see if all conductors are tight.

Yes I use two lines on a sheet/cert. 1 for the 6mm cable and the other for the RFC. It shouldn't be on a 40A.

yes imo...R1+R2 of the 6mm cable on one line. r1,rn,r2 and R1+R2 of the ring final on the next line. Zs obviously highest reading on the RFC.

and mark it up on the sheet/cert as a hybrid circuit.

1. Probably did not null his leads to have an R1 + R2 that high bearing in mind Zs, or more likely, just can't test and god knows what he is referring to.
2. More interesting is the 40A RCBO on his 2.5mm RFC

There are lots about..."kitchen fitters" love to adapt an old VIR cooker/water heater feeds,for their little ring + off-shoots...time to select "sanity",on the MFT...:blush5:

I still dont get why you have a 40a MCB if most of the circuit is wired in 2.5mm2

According to some folk they are quite common, I personally don't like them and wouldn't use them, but that's my choice.

Seen it where a 6mm has been run out to a rotary isolator in a classroom and then a RFC run from load side of rotary isolator.
