A lean to with a metal clad box and a plastic double switched socket fitted to it adjacent to a water drain for a washing machine. Obviously I am not happy with it so thought I would fit a BG weatherproof IP66 as a direct replacement; thinking I had to remove the flex I pulled some 2.5mm T&E through the wall.
Then I got to thinking, does this existing circuit conform to any version of the regs.
But I think it might be better to upgrade to current regs perhaps.
My questions are also what is required to do that?
Does it require mechanical protection through the cavity/wall?
Can I use a flexible cord or T&E? Already pulled T&E through.
Does the socket require an isolator - if so what type and should it be located in the House or Lean to? If in the lean to I would probably use weather proof and include built in RCD - although not yet decided about a CU upgrade and installation test and certification
And will want to add some lighting in future - current lighting is unclipped flex with plug!
