Hi
I’ve recently got my first home I’m not entirely sure when they were built I’m thinking possibly 60s or 70s?
My problem is the storage heaters as I would like to remove them and change them to something modern, they are sunhouse SSH18A-79352s my main concern upon opening it up to take the bricks out is that insulation to me looks like asbestos all the research I’ve done on this model tells me these models are asbestos free from 1976 onwards however I can’t seem to find out how I identify when these particular ones were manufactured, any help would be great as I’ve never encountered these and don’t have much of an idea about them apart from removing them,
For some reason I can’t attach photos but I have some to send to anyone that can help
Thankyou

Photos just need cropped a little to reduce the file size.
I screenshot the image as I view it, then crop it down and resave.

As for asbestos… AFAIK, the upright storage heaters are asbestos free, but the short fat ones with a single coiled element could well be.

Do you know how old the house is, and whether the heater is original to the build or a later addition

Unfortunately I don’t know much about when the house was built or if the storage heaters are original to the property or not here are the images I’ve taken below
Thankyou

Hi Patta,

If your asking this type of question on this type of forum….!!!!!!!

You’ll ONLY get one answer, and that is to seek professional asbestos advise.!!!

DONT ever rely on individuals miles away, to persuade you to tamper with such a potential material….!!!!!

P.S - send your Mother-Inlaw in to do the job…..LoL ( Not recommended )
