He's becoming more useful and confident Danny but IMO you need a lot more time than even a full apprenticeship term to be properly good and competent in this trade.

Yes mate I would. If they were happy cutting their legs off to support their mate in a wheel chair I think I could eventually be convinced (rightly or wrongly).

Every time the Persil advert comes on the telly and at the end a kids voice says, "keep away from kids" - I always reply out loud, "I intend to"!

I would be immensely proud. Shows a level of skill and is a academic trade as well. My 9 year old always says electrician when asked what he wanted to be.

Couldn't have him as my apprentice though... no chance!

Don't have children or plan to sometime soon either!
But if it's something they enjoy I'd be proud and support them.
If you enjoy what you do you'll never work a day in your life.

I think most parents reguardless of what trade there children choose,
would be proud of them !

I wouldn't let them,mainly because there are better jobs out there,jobs that will look after you,pay you,when you are ill,build you a better pension,give you bonuses,extra days off,send you on courses & wont worry how long it takes,ecetera ecetera...
