Since leaving ELECSA I don't do that many notifiable works, normally if it's notifiable the customer is getting a lot of work done so just infrom Loacal Building Control, they come and do 1st fix inspection (look around for cables going straight up a.nd down). Once the job is complete I test as I would before, then pass the results to LABC.
I had a call today from building control, querying one of my test results sheets, well their electrical engineer querying it.
  • The tails I wrote down was 16mm (well fair cop) and not 25mm, I'll change them not a problem.
  • The BSEN number for the main switch Wylex board 100A main switch, which I've got as 90743, he claims is wrong.
  • There is no mention of a split board on the schedule, as in cir 1-6 on RCD 1 and 7 - 12 on RCD 2
  • And if it is a split board, why I have not used a 100mA RCD, well I used to pre 17th on a TT but all cables are buried less htan 50mm so it's got 2 30mA
  • And how are all my circuits tripping out at 21mA 18ms (if tahts what my meter says thats what gets recorded)
I'm busy checking the issues, for when I call him in the morning.
What are your thoughts.:rockon2:

Why would the tails be too small, what is the suppliers fuse rating?

A double pole main switch is 60947-3

There is no need for a 100 m/amp rcd unless the consumer unit is metal clad, even then there are precautions that can be taken other than a 100m/amp rcd,(which would need to be time delayed if it was required)

An Rcd has a partricular characteristic, that is the same whatever circuit it protects

should be 60947-3 for main isolator. and the 2 x 30mA RCDs is correct. the 21mA could be due to a small leakage on the installation or just the RCD.
