Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can share any light on this problem. I am still in the training period of my NVQ, so I am looking for help and advice. Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine has messaged me stating that his lights and sockets have just randomly tripped, so he has re energised the circuits and now some of his lights are coming on with the socket circuit and vise versa.

Would really appreciate some help so I can tell him the best advice on what to do.

From what you describe, albeit somewhat sketchily, it would need some investigation and someone on site to observe exactly what is going on. As stated above it seems from your description that there is some kind of mix up between the sockets and lighting. It may be that some of the lights are spurred off of the ring circuit and something has gone wrong with that circuit, possibly. Would need a more precise description before being able to conjecture on what is going on.

Have you been to look yourself? Could it just be that your friend has reset the rcd that has a socket and lighting circuit on and thought the rcd is the circuit, as all circuits on that rcd would re-energise??
