Pulled into a customers driveway, lots of cars parked there, got a bit stuck trying to reverse out, Its a new van (Trafic) and much bigger than what I'm used to (and heavier!!!)! After 5 mins of getting nowhere a tiny spark of panic slipped in and I quickly popped over the huge lawn that was by no means well looked after, just an overgrown mass and escaped with a bit of a wheel spin at the end. Felt a bit bad, but didn't think too much about it!

Just had a phone call saying that a big yellow van has been seen on CCTV and was it me?

Obviously owned up straight away and going around tomorrow morning to do a bit of gardening with a very red face!! (and perhaps get some reversing lessons) :shame:

Thought you could all do with a bit of a laugh!

That's life, maybe reverse park next time!!

Yes, I had to learn quite a few new tricks when I first started driving a van. Now I always reverse into a driveway unless I know for sure that there's room to turn round. Also usually reverse into a parking space unless it's going to be difficult to unload that way.

Another one is always stopping at right angles to the main road at a T junction, even if the side road joins at an angle. Better to block the side road with the back of the van rather than have to pull out without being able to see properly.

Don't be applying for your HGV test anytime soon :)

My last embarasing mistake, was driving a luton truck with double rear wheels, overloaded with rubbish in Kensington London the day after it had the rear tryes changed. Went round a corner, had Stone roses blaring out on the CD player..the van sort of shuddered, went side ways, and came to an abrupt halt. I noticed some wheels rolling down the pavement on one side....me wheels had literally come off, so I got out, rolled a smoke and watch the ensueing chaos as the traffic piled up.

You should invest in one of these. It is colour but it's dark outside so pic not great as I've just took it is raining but normally crystal clear.

Handy yokes these,i have fitted dozens, mainly to horsebox livings and stalls. Night vision is great for catching folk who don't realise you are in the cab line tracing and think the rear is ideal for shady arrangments and conoodlling....

Just got back! It really wasn't that bad, little bit of raking and leveling out and his lordship was happy (it was a virtually a mansion!!).

He's actually just sent me an e-mail saying 'thankyou for coming over and doing it' and now wants me to fit an outside light!! :)
