It's a Non-Standard 13A socket normally installed in installations where it is required that not every Tom, Dick and harry can plug in electrical equipment
I pulled 5 of them out of a communal area of some apartments, the landlord wanted standard sockets put back in, so was just curious as to what they are, having a research they are also used as they can provide 'clean earth' having 2 earthing terminals..
Non standard 13A type sockets come in all sorts of guise's, some with no fuse provision. Might be handy for those kitchen installs, where double fusing is present, ie, FCU above work top controlling a socket outlet below work top!! lol!!
They are often referred to as cleaner sockets.
They get installed in comunal areas in appartment and office blocks.
The idea being to prevent a tennant using the Landlord's electricity.
They are also used on 'clean earth' and i.t. circuits, to prevent anything unsuitable being connected.
Sometimes the sockets will be red, in order to easily distinguish them from normal sockets which may be adjacent to them.
It's Tim not Jim, it's a 'T' shape not a 'J' shape.
