no there are two cables to the lights (load) that run either side of the kitchen. The cable on the LHS i can see all of it and when connected to either supply the lights work. The RHS cable goes from the supply underground and back up at the rhs of the kitchen. When i add this cable to the supply it fuses. I cant see the whole cable and im now guessing that the cable may be damaged but the floor is now laid and i cant get under to check

The LHS cable when connected to the power source (either one) works and i can connect the lights on a serial chain and that each one on that cable works. Problem is crossing the room. The RHS cable is under floor and i was hoping to use that to power the RHS and add the lights to the end of that cable. However every time i add just the cable even with no lights the fuse trips. So hence i am guessing the cable is the problem and if so how do i get from the LHS to RHS without coming round from the LHS in a serial digging into walls etc. Hence why i wonder if i test the cable what reading would tell me cable is broken. And would a broken cable cause a short

sounds like the cable is goosed. might be able to get up and over. minimal chasing required.
