Hi I'm a new member. I'm a trainee of sorts, I currently work full time for London Underground as a ticket clerk but due to redundancy have decided to become a domestic installer. I did the part P and BS7671 a few years ago, in anticipation of the redundancy, and am shortly off to complete the C&G 2392-10 and hope to complete the C&G 2394/5 sometime next year. I have very little electrical experience, I've done a couple of "jobs" for family like installing new circuits, but would love to hear other members views on the best routes or qualifications to gain to help me on my path. Thanks in advance

Yeah I hadn't thought of that thanks. I'm really not sure which route is best, wether to carry on to become fully qualified or just stick to the domestic market I suppose I'll find out as I go along

A good start is the trainee section, Some good advice and experiences are discussed by guys attending college courses. Request access from Paulm

stick to your job, mate. the domestic market is saturated with short course wannabees. to become a qualified electrician takes a min. of 3 years college with the same amount of practical experience. if you can find a job as a spark's mate and fund 3 years college ( 2 evenings a week) then you're half way there. then it's nvq3, am2, 2394/5.
