dan the cable

Hi
Iv got an old dewalt 24v ads cordless hammer. It doesn't work atall at the moment. I think it's the batteries that's knackered. It has Tbh been living in my garage for the last 5 years. I was thinking of chucking it but when I remember what it cost new this brings a tear to my eye.
Does anyone know if a couple of new nicad batteries would be worth the investment or with a drill of this age (about 12 years) am I just being a tight wad and should fork out for another machine?
Cheers
Dan

Hi pal,i have probably the same drill,i stripped down the battery pack and ordered some ( a lot) new tagged cells off an ebay site. The other battery i sent off for a fixed price replacement. In effort and time, they were about equal at around ÂŁ80. I couldn't bear to bin it as it was in great condition, even if me Hilti stuff knocks the DeWalt gear in to a cocked hat...

i got the same problem. batteries for these drills are an arm and 2 legs. put mine on ebay as bare bones unit + charger.

As dodgy as it is, zapping them with an arc welder works in a lot of cases.

Just wear gloves and a full face shield.

Check out you tube.

a better way is to use a car battery. reverse polarity 12V across each cell individually for 2-3 seconds.
