Hi all,

Not sure if asking about rates is allowed, but I'm wondering what people's thoughts are on chargeable rates for PAT testing. Baring in mind, I have the course certificate, but I don't have any PAT testing equipment yet, but I'm being asked more frequently if I do it.

I'm being asked for a price per unit, predominantly IT equipment and kitchen appliances. Any help at all would be great.

Thanks

I only do a small amount of ISITEE (formerly known as PAT testing).
Usually for rented properties, so the usual things like toaster, kettle, washing machine, extension leads etc.
I reason that whatever work I do needs to pay me at my normal hourly rate. Therefore, if my hourly rate was £40 per hour, and I could do 10 appliances in an hour, that works out at £4 per appliance.

And at least you'll test it properly, so the customer actually gets a better deal despite the higher price.
