Out of interest do those of you that accept cheques charge an admin fee?

Nah, they are a once in a blue moon event. I tend to keep them until I'm next passing a bank.
90% of customers pay me by bacs within 24 hours of completion so cashflow is never a problem.

For me paying in a cheque is an hour of my time by the time I drive to town, I pay to park, walk to the bank, queue up, then do the reverse should be billed.

I think charging an additional fee specifically for card payments is now banned/illegal (or something like that), if an admin fee is to be charged they need to be charged to other forms of payment as well. See here
