PIR sensor for cars?

Hi
Have you ever used a PIR sensor to detect cars - so that driveway lights come on automatically? Or would they be driving too slowly? Dont want to use photoelectric beams as they need big posts (customer doesnt !).

No i haven't, but i cant see why not, go for it. They work on movement and proximity so speed shouldn't be an issue. Airports have a similar system that turns the taxiway lights on as the plane approaches, and then they go out once it has passed.

Yes used all the time for cctv and flood lights, good one on the market was GJD opal detectors, good range of 25m

I installed one just inside some electric gates once pointing inwards and as the car rolls in, the driveway lights come on, they've never had a problem with it
