hi I was hoping I could get some help doing the hnd plc unit and stuck on a question regarding how resolution has a relationship with input and output devices and how the word length has a connection please

Ok,
Resolution is how fine or coarse is a digital control signal. The greater the number of bits, the finer the control. 8 bits is 256 steps, 24 bits is 16,777,215 steps. Word length is often the number of bits. 24 bits is fine enough to describe the ratio of height of a tall TV transmitter mast to the width of a human hair!

You might like to research Modbus Modbus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia note data is normally araanged into a number of bytes 8 bits = 1 byte 16 bits = 2 bytes

Thanks mate that's what I'm doing now profibus modbus and df1 protocols
