hi just contacted d.n.o about fitting isolator for a c.u. change for elecsa assessment in my own flat. They said get a registered spark to do the work. then I replied that I need isolator so I can do the work and register. They then said to register with elecsa and then do work. I cant register until I complete the work and can not do the work unless it is isolated. Am I just getting dizzy going round in circles or just pull fuse and do work. I have 2330 level 3 so classed as competent but are they? what do I do?

It looks to me as though you have made "best endeavors" to do things through the proper channels and have got nowhere.

If this was me, I would do a Risk Assessment - check the condition of the fuse holder etc. do I feel I'm competent enough to do this? then switch off the main switch at CU to take load off the fuse and just pull the bloody thing and get on with the job, but that's just me - an old retired bloke who's fed up to the back teeth with Jobsworths who won't do their jobs !!!

if you are going to pull it yourself, just make sure you follow geordie's advice and make sure there's no load going through it. sorry if this sounds bleeding obvious.

by the way, having the level 3 2330 doesn't mean you're automatically classed as competent (i'm not saying you aren't competent - just that there's more to it than that).

good luck with the assessment.

Ooops!
