Discuss Replacing bathroom pull switch with dimmable pull switch in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

it'stypicalof equipment that has been designed by some bloke/lass who has never fitted one. see also Ikea lights. bloody awful.

This has been installed incorrectly. The sheath of the cable must enter the enclosure of the fitting. Even if you now bring the cable in one of the knockouts there is a hole in the enclosure. Unless around fast fix box or conduit box is now used this is non-compliant with the regs.
Santa is upset and will now now tick you off his list.......... ;o))))
But the gray sheath does not enter the fitting.
You are in the UK please use grey ;o)))))

Totally off topic but that was the song that first got me into Pink Floyd many many years ago and I still think it's one of their best albums.

The twinn and earth sheath was gray in the O.P's photo.
Grey reigns supreme..... unless your life is dull and full of gloom. Cheer up hun........ ;o))))

Haha thanks for all the replies.

The pull switch is this one Eterna Bathroom Light Pull Switch Soft Pull No Click Dimming | Electrical World - https://www.electricalworld.com/en/Eterna-Bathroom-Light-Pull-Switch-Soft-Pull-No-Click-Dimming/m-1605.aspx and I’ve managed to wire it up and it’s working. I have attached the instructions and my finish wiring.

The switched live (LOAD) went in the L LOAD and I put the live (SUPPLY) in the L terminal. It works so I hope it’s right?

Richard,

Would I be correct to assume that after 2 years of having the Soft Pull Cord Switch it is still working ok?

Being a 'Soft Pull Cord' would I also be correct that there is no Click when using this Pull Cord?

Is there any noise at all to know if the Switch has been Switched and the Light should be on or off?

I will look forward to your feedback.

Kind Regards,

Daniel (DC4_DIY)
