Why has the person who did the work not signed it off / notified etc?

Has the Landlord themselves done work on the installation and is wanting paperwork and notification?

Or has the Landlord paid BillyBob from down the road somewhere, who isn't answering the phone now he's been paid and won't supply any paperwork or notify?

Or does the Landlord just want an EICR doing, because he / she / other has realised they should have had one a few years ago?

Hi, if I’m qualified JIB gold and wanted to sign off someone’s work and certify it for say a landlord can I? Even I’m not part of NAPIT or the like! Thanks Adam
Of course you can, it's a free country, you can sign whatever you like, but do remember that you become liable for the standard of the installation and at a minimum would do a thorough EICR, I would also check with your public liability insurer that they are happy for you to do that.

That's true, unless, as has been already mentioned, the work is notifiable to building control.

In any case, most electricians I know would not be certifying someone else's work unless they were involved at the start of the work. I personally wouldn't "sign off" any work but my own.

'Signing Off' work & Notifying Building control are 2 very different things...

We as electricians 'Sign off' work ( I don't really like that saying, I prefere complete the work ) With either an EIC or MWC , that's it... Any competent electrician with an MFT can do this.

But to notify the Council of the work if it falls under PArt Pee you will need to be Part P scam registered Or pay the council a fee.
