Silly Rated People jobs/prices...bit of a chuckle for friday.

Still a member of Rated People I decided I'd start a thread with some of the ridiculous jobs that come through, poor descriptions & silly prices.

Hows this for starters, looks like he needs a new earth rod and main bonding, supplied, installed & tested for under £100 :nonod:

£65 for the first hour is probably quite reasonable in some parts of the country.

That's crazy paying for a lead and if you don't get it , you don't get reimbursed . Crazy..

you get credited for a lead that you have bought but can't quote on, due to not being able to contact customer, whatever. the secret is to get credit for a £5 lead then use that credit to buy a £25 lead.

Ok sounds French , but so say you apply for 5 leads @£5 and dont win any work you then buy £25 lead then .

I refuse to entertain this nonsense as I have had them Rated and Service magic to join I also tell customers that cheap is not always best and that they end up paying for Rated costs through the job by the guy cutting corners but this will attract guys who are trying to enter the sector thing is they are just middle men plain and simple

I seam to Get a lot that dont answer.

As long as I get a credit it's all good though.

My builder on the other hand haven't even managed to get short listed on a job.

But in the plus side a few savvy clients have googled my company and got me though the website after seeing it on my builder.

I've replied to 15 and not even been short listed.

Always a message first, I tell them if they send me a rough spec I can do an Estimate but if they
Prefer a fixed quote I can make a site visit, I always speak personally with the customer before putting in a price

Yeah that's what I try to do. Don't like giving a price for something when I have a one line description.

Maybe I need to script a better message.

Just having a look at the local jobs and the people expressing interest and some have over 100 jobs completed.

I can understand people having to use these sites,but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that they even exist,especially so uncontrolled

I would bracket them alongside agencies,they have become a necessary evil inflicted on trades and the comparison with leeches preying on reluctant victims is deserving,a pefect example of these obnoxious economic times

Just remember though, some use My Builder to list "replacing a damaged socket" as a job!, so they will get feedback for that.
