So, about to hopefully register with competent persons scheme. Don't have insurance yet, am I right in saying that having public liability only allows to carry out domestic, if carrying out commercial or agricultural (I live in rural area), then you also need professional indemnity? Reason im asking is that the prof indemnity is quite expensive especially as not planning on going full time into contracting.
Cheers in advance

the amount of public liability cover required for the DI scheme is £2M, i think AC is £5 million. its upto you what cover beyond the £2m you take out. Just be upfront to the insurer about the type and nature of your work so you dont get a surprise in the event of a claim

Thanks for replies, ill give stroma a shout. I'm going with them for my membership. I'm hoping to do a little more than domestics but the indemnity is working out almost as my provider fees.

the PL is the most important issue, but make sure you're covered for 3 phase. a lot of policies exclude it.

Thanks for the answers all, alot clearer. Yes hope to do some design and possibly eicrs casting a wide net and hoping not to have to chase domestic only. See how it goes... Cheers
