Morning

I need to run a spur to supply a cooker hood extractor - the only accessible point is the cooker switch - this is run in 6mm on it's own circuit from a 30amp fuse - the cooker is only 2.3kw. Can I take a spur from the feed side of the cooker point, run up to a fused connection unit in 6mm and then step down to a 3amp fuse to connect the extractor?

Thanks
Andy

Using 6mm from the cooker s/w ( feed side ) to the FCU must be sized with respect to fuse rating. So sounds ok. Possibly choose an FCU which has a double-pole switch.

Of course, any additional wiring may require RCD protection depending on how you install it.

Make sure you note these circuit changes on the fuse board so that it is obvious that the cooker hood is on that circuit.

Some electricians don't like to see anything tapped off a dedicated circuit ( such as cookers, showers, boilers, immersions, etc ). Sometimes, you are left with limited options.
