Whilst testing a light fitting, i found a strange voltage reading from the switched live. When the switch is on, 240v 50 htz, all good, when the switch is off the switched live shows 79v 50 Htz. Taken the wire out of the switch, and still the same, checked insulation resistance and all ok.....and suggestions to why im getting these readings?

thanks

thanks for the reply chris,

Sorry to sound dumb, im still learning....what could could be causing this? is it a major concern? and how should i fix it?

thankyou

Sounds like a neutral has popped out IMO.

I had something similar recently, wired a radial socket circuit and had 60v at the end of the circuit, turned out a neutral had popped out in one of the sockets.
