This is the first time I have ever seen straw in a stud wall. House was built in 1990.

Some houses on one of the estates round here have straw pre-fab stud walls. They came complete with channels for wiring, if you need a channel and can locate it, you can easily push a cable rod up/down.

The house is part of a large estate. Never come across anything like it before but then I'm used to solid stone walls made of blue slate or sand stone

I live in such a house, built 1987.
All internal dividing walls upstairs and down are Strawboard.
As said above there are plenty of built in channels, every 300mm across if it's like mine.
Expect a supermarket bag full of straw when you cut out for 1 double socket box, it's very dense.
