Hi Guys....

Just after any pointers if I may have missed anything, bit of a head scratcher ?

Got a new kitchen lighting circuit we've run in right back to DB/ new DB installed.

Have Megaman GU10 lamps installed (140504) and now and again mid range through dimming they strobe, min level ok no flickering.

We've tried 2 x types of dimmers now which have worked fine on these lamps for years on all other jobs:
Aurora DSP400x
Zano ZMO150

Swapped over RCBO in DB in case any issues with this.

Lighting feed is supplying a 2g dimmer switch.... both switches are affected.

Possible try some different lamps - Phillips and/or different dimmer thinking of a Varilight ?

Any help appreciated ?

Cheers Sy

Even thinking of trying to set something up to log the min/max frequency of the incoming supply.... sketchy o\h wire coming in, if its slightly out from 50Hz then assuming this could cause probs ?

almost unheard of for frequency of supply to fluctuate.voltage yes, Hz no.

Whether a particular combination of lamps and dimmers flickers depends on details of their circuits that are not necessarily kept constant over time. So although you might have had good results from those lamps before, a minor change in production might lead to different behaviour in this batch.

It's unlikely to be anything to do with the wiring or supply unless there is serious waveform distortion (which can happen in industrial environments due to large, strange loads) or just possibly a very high voltage drop (i.e. high source resistance) might influence the stability. As per @telectrix the frequency of the mains can be considered constant for this purpose; generator frequency varies enough to cause dimmed LEDs to suddenly start flickering in response to a load change.
