Discuss The "Thanks" button in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

Maybe we make this a closed sticky thread that only us can get on then we all thank each other, over and over again. What do you recon?

They used to on the old version of the forum without the 'like' button, but now someone could 'thank' you on an old post and you might never know about it, so it serves only to add to your plumage of feathers in your cap - a kind of 'who's got the most thanks' competition.

I bet you feel like the cat that got the cream after that thanks didn't you mate, there are more than one way to skin a cat so finding out about the thanks is all available mate.

Still it maybe that curiosity will kill the cat if you look to deep into this, but if it was raining cats and dogs today it might while away a few hours !!!

Ok I've got my coat and just leaving

Whatever your on, i want some! Lol

Can we just confirm, the "Thank" button is for a useful post and the "like" is saying "I like your post" - "agree" or "what a hoot you are". It is not implying that you "like" the poster. Its just, well, I have noted that most electricians I meet in the wholesalers are not the sort of person that likes anyone or anything. Maybe I'm the atypical electrician ....

IMO the 'like' button is for posts you like and for useful posts, because the person who posted them is reminded of their useful post in the notifications and in their profile, so they are encouraged to replicate that useful post (or one of a similar nature) in the future.
The 'thanks' button seems largely redundant now.
