Hi Guys,
A Metalcad CU is being installed on a TT system in a farm garage. Chances arew things will be rested up against the walls so a Metalclad CU has been chosen to give it protection.

All circuits will be protected by 30mA RCD / RCBO.

From research it seems a 100mA time delayed RCD will be needed to protect the tails entering the metalclad CU.

My next thought was that the time delayed RCD will need a Metalclad enclosure to give it the mechanical protection.

Surely then the tails entering the enclosure will also need RCD protection?

Whats the best way to get the mechanical protection needed for this system?

Thanks in advance!

Measures can be taken to be sure there is no possibility of a short from the tails to the metal case. This would mean a clamped plastic bush, fixing the tails so they cant move...and mounting the RCD itself on an insulated packing board within the metal enclosure. If those measures were in place the metal enclosure would not require earthing.
A simpler alternative would be to use insulated enclosures and build mechanical protection around them.
