use a resin filled SWA joint. was a new one at elex. just joint cable in a connection block, close the cover. job done. i'll try and find a link.
 
the ones we saw at elex are a torpedo with resin/whatever already in the 2 halves of the torpedo. then there's a joint box that looks like the chamber of a revolver. just join the cables. put the joint into the torpedo. close it. job done.
 
only problem is whether we can allow these to be used in essex. far too sophisticated for essex boys. :grin:
 
Better than the joint I found once for outside light.

SWA into galv through box (no gasket on lid) stuffing gland other side with flex in then cables twisted together, put in choc block and wrapped in some kind of tape.

Apparently used to be quite common but I didnt bother to investigate the obvious cause of short as it would of involved unravelling wet mouldy tape stuff which was surounded by something living that has probably starred in a horror film at some point!
