Wow, I really appreciate all the kind and positive comments, thanks very much everyone ! Yes it does make me feel proud that he's making nice steady progress and has loads of enthusiasm, nice lad too and liked by the customers- a 17 year old that you can talk to and get more than grunts or 'whatever' in return. The irony is that we hardly ever touch any steel conduit work.

I was just thinking that, happy to do a swap with our apprentice. I had to provide instructions on how to open a can of paint the other day.

Good conduit work though! Somewhere I have a pair of conduit nesting tables I made some years back...

Arrh yes, your obviously an engineer of repute to spot that. I was actually challenging members to post their adolescent engineering accolades.

I do recall making a steam windmill at school in the metalwork class, out of a tin can. Didn't last the passages of time unfortunately.

I also have somewhere in my collection an MI stripping (tool), made out of a steel rod, with a plastic coated handle, for comfort.

Made a plumb bob in DT. had no idea what one was. Tempted to use it more but knowing me id lose it

That's brought back memories. I made one over 30 years ago at college. Gonna get my apprentice to make one of these. Bending conduit is not his strongest skill. Wonder how many lengths of tube he will wreck! The pics look good nice job he should be proud of that. Too many sparks fail on conduit bending skills. Great skill to master.
