Discuss Who's working Christmas Day in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Worked christmas morning the other year. It wasn't that bad to be fair, dont do anything until lunch time with the family anyway, still got to the pub at the usual time and earned a few quid in the process.

i will go out to emergencies if called. regulars get priority.

agree^^^^ away from screaming brats. couple of call-outs, pub on way home.

We had some planed works for the rail Christmas shut down Christmas eve through to boxing day night. But that got called off so just on call the whole 2 weeks. Its worth the money.

I'd rather have Boxing Day and New Years Day off and go to work Christmas Day......................They are the best 2 days for sport in the calendar year.

MOT come on the peacocks tonight

There was a waiting list to do the xmas safety cover at Longbridge, go in at 0900, have a cup of tea, one lap of the factory followed by another cup of tea and clock out at 1100. Got paid 4 hours at treble time for it :D

Nothing would get me away from my children christmas day.Priorities lads. Unless Darth Vader rings with a missing phase on level 3 of the death star...:santa3:

no money in the world would get me out xmas day some greedy men on here lol

Not really greedy, it's a case of some people have no choice wether they work or not. It's part of my contract that bank holidays are covered by at least 1 person

have u actually thought that some of the guys on here are working cos they actually need the money, possibly to pay for christmas, and therefore have no choice to do it either

volunteering my services free to local hospital over festive season......don't really drink so that's ok if they need a hand with something I will head over...
how very noble of you,I did the same a few years ago with the fire service, its nice to be able to put something back isnt it.this year I will only be turning out for real friends with real emergencies, one year I was asked to locate a gas leak for a disabled couple by friends as transco had turned of their gas,I'd had quite a few so they had ma picked up,even half cut I found the leak in short order, caused by transco, lots of red faces for them a few quid for me and a very happy couple. What a result.

I've lost count of the number of my friends and "associates" who have given me a similar tale of yuletide riches only to change company and years later tell me what a stingy outfit they once worked for. Also,a couple of them who are on serious dough, once you break it down to hours etc,are merely on good wages but are owned 24/7 by their respective employers.
