Hi All,

Im looking for some information for electrical improvers working abroad.
Im currently self funding my way through my electrical course as an adult learner gaining my level 2/3 and 18th edition alongside working on domestic and commercial sites for nearly 4 years .

Id like to emigrate or work abroad and wondering what the options are like for an improver doing this before paying out for the rest of my quals if not needing to.

Thanks
Elliot

Sorry to say - but not many. The vast majority of other countries have a far clearer idea of what ‘electrician’ means than the U.K. so if you went overseas now you’d almost certainly find yourself looking for a bottom rung apprenticeship in that territory. I would suggest you’re much better off finishing what you’ve started here and get your gold card as that way you can often cross/transfer to another country a lot easier. And that’s just talking electrical - work visas are a minefield all on their own!!

Just to add, on a more positive note, if you’ve got your heart set on broadening your horizons and opportunity by going overseas then absolutely do it!!! Just do it the right way.
