If you are adding something on a circuit, ie another light, fan etc, when doing the r1+r2 do you get that from the part of circuit you have added or from the last in line point on that circuit??

do you mean R1+R2? totally different to r1 and r2. R1+R2 is highes reading from all points on the circuit.

wherever you add, you still have to test. suppose you connected say a light half way along the radial circuit, and had snapped a cpc when tightening, you would then not get a reding further along the radial. so, last point on the radial should give the highest reading and prove continuity for the full length of the circuit.
 
yep, test at your fitting and at the furthest point. record the highest values. R1+R2 and Zs. compare Zs with max. allowed for the MCB/Fuse
