The designer from ESP designed the whole system. I thought ESP was more for diy, but they insisted they had been used in other schools in the area. Should have gone with my gut feeling and installed something else, but even my wholesaler was recommending them.
im thinking of replacing the whole...
We have recently installed an ESP CCTV system in one of our schools. This is the first time we have used ESP, so the rep visited us and showed us the setup, and all parties were equally impressed.
Install went fine, 12 cameras inside and 13 outside. All ran in cat 5 with balums used to connect...
it would still cost a huge amount done like that, and I know money is tight for them because of staff redundancies. At the end of the day, this isn't my problem, I just really wanted to know where I stood on the satisfactory/unsatisfactory part. Recommendations go on the sheet but if it still...
I agree, sometimes the fire officers have such varied opinions on what is needed. I will get them to ask the question about previous passes, I think that is the most valid point here.
the main problem is, a new system would almost certainly bankrupt them. They lease the building and I doubt...
So You think they should chase up the company which originally designed and installed it? They know who it was, the company is still driving round in vans today.
I just think it was strange that the last fire officer passed it without a problem, and then two years later another has failed it...

Just had a discussion with one of the local fire officers in our area regarding one of the hotels we look after.
He told me that when we service fire alarms in any buildings, they have to be unto the current design standard or they fail the inspection. The hotel alarm was installed by...
We should be working together to bring our industries rates up, not questioning each other's pricing. It's a long time to become an electrician, and people deserve to be paid for their efforts.
And before you ask, a full apprenticeship is at least 3 years experience, and 1 year working as an electrician, designing, fault finding and testing alone with no advice before you are considered qualified.
full apprenticeship, nvq level 3, am2, test and inspection 2391. That's not unreasonable, all the guys I train get those qualifications and go on to become excellent tradesmen. They get a JIB card and can go on to have a successful career as an electrician.
thats why we charge what we charge...
We charge £350 per day for a fully qualified 2391 electrician.
Apprentices are £100 per day.
that is mostly commercial work, domestic is done on price and not day rate.
