Is there a requirement for a clearance of an inch between the gas pipe and the cable, as suggested by this guy then?

Ok thanks for replies. Also there is a gas meter box next to the electrical one and the boiler man brought a 28mm gas pipe in behind. This goes vertically upwards then horizontally along the ceiling joists with clips onto the wall. The distance of the pipe off the wall is the depth of the pipe...

He just said to get a metal cu with about 15 ways. I would prefer someone who gets their own gear and then just gives me a bill at the end to be honest.

For my extension build the electrical supply meter was moved to a box outside. Rather than moving the old consumer unit I opted to have a new one fitted. The electrician who came to look at the job told me I could provide the cu. When I rang him to ask which one to buy he said it now has to have...

    Wet hands and electricity

My concern was that people with wet hands are very close to the FCU and the water when blown off one’s hands splashes all over the FCU also. Shouldn’t the FCU be higher? They have run the cable in conduit from the ceiling so could have done so easily.

    Wet hands and electricity

Just came across this on a clients premises in a W/C. Surely this cannot be legal?

    Connection behind bathroom mirror?

There is a bracket which screws to the wall. The inner part of the frame drops over the bracket along the top. Similar to those brackets for kitchen units but bigger. There doesn’t seem to be any sort of locking mechanism but I’ve tried it out and it sits happily under its own weight. Edit...

    Connection behind bathroom mirror?

Thanks all. Midwest, I realise not all those asking for advice will intend to use an electrician. I do consider myself competent to a degree but as pointed out earlier there are a lot more things to consider than just the connections. Plus I need the electrician’s certificate for the building...

    Connection behind bathroom mirror?

Thanks Nebu1a that’ll do for me! The mirror is one of those Hudson Reed LED things with a swipe sensor switch for the lights, a shave socket and a demister pad. It is shown above a sink in all the marketing ads. I know this doesn’t necessarily mean anything. It says IP44 on the back, which i...
