    UK Consumer Unit spare way

Sorry Spoon, have I done something that I shouldn’t of? I’m using my phone for this for the first time.

Good point, I was just assuming attached to house.

    domestic earthing

OP... is your supply to the cottage overhead supply from poles? If so, if you follow the poles down the line supplying your cottage and neighbours, at every other pole you may see green/yellow signs about 6 foot high on the poles indicating PME available. Like been said, only the DNO can...

    domestic earthing

OP wrote PEN earthing. Is that not a different earthing system to PME?

    UK Consumer Unit spare way

I was just thinking ease of getting a good earth connection in these modern day plastic boxes instead of relying solely on the SWA glands and banjo connections

I’d use 3 core SWA cable Why not go for 10mm. That will ensure you’re covered re loading plus spare capacity if needed further down the line. Bigger car!

Whilst no need to comply with regs, I would suggest lay black pvc ducting for the SWA under your drive. Something like 50mm diameter Polyducting

    Pir

Hi Guys, I’ve not been on here for a while and I’m getting out of touch with modern products. I’d like to fit a stand alone PIR to switch on an existing halogen (100 watt) light fitting and an existing bulkhead light fitting (100 watt tungsten). I’d like to fit an additional LED (20 watts)...

    DNOs attitude towards earthing!

They could mean a bit of wire wrapped round an old lead water pipe! Very poorly worded indeed, left them selves wide open I would of thought

Or >>> Fix a 1 or 2 way metal Switch fuse unit along side the existing consumer unit specifically for the SWA cable.

Wiring a FCU to a double socket

What's already been wired off the double socket. I'm assuming the socket is wired on a ring circuit. Of course that wants checking out and confirming.

UK Does this wiring look ok?

I agree with what you say. It reminds me when I used to do electrical surveys years ago, in instances like above, I could never say to a customer that the installation was dangerous. I had to say that it was hazardous. Apparently if we used the word dangerous, customers would ring and say that...
