Not really, the circuit supplies 2 split units each drawing around 12A so it has been designed as a 32A cct for that reason. I see what you're getting at but this has been designed as a 32A cct & is wired in 4mm singles. The isolators that have been fitted are there because of the availability...
Yes of course I'm assessing the compatibility of protection & wiring, there's no issue there, there is this issue of compatibility between cct protection & the rating of accessories. I agree there is built in protection with appliances like these but I'm a sparky & I'm not really concerned with...
I didn't design the cct Julie so none of that is down to me or part of the issue. Any number of faults could occur in an air con unit, its not just a motor.
But if there is a fault condition then the load could draw in excess of 20A, ie the rating of the isolator for a sustained amount of time while not pulling enough current to operate the 32A protective device thus potentially causing damage to the under rated isolator & therefore a fire hazard...

Hi all,
Hopefully this is being posted in the right place, apologies if not or if my question has been previously answered.
I'm currently having a bit of a disagreement with my supervisor having carried out an inspection which is for all intents & purposes, a condition report on a living...
I’m not sure really, I’m an approved spark with 20+ years experience in the uk, usual stuff, LV installation, maintenance, controls, not really sure where my experience would best place me, a lot of the things I’m looking at on line seem to be degree level so I guess I’m looking for a foot in...
Hi everyone, I’ve been registered on here for a few years but never really used the site, thought I’d say hi! Interested in working abroad if anyone has any thoughts, specifically the Middle East.
Hi all,
I've recently had an occurrence on a shopfit job I've just finished in Spitalfields where as usual I was the only trade who was beaten with a whip to finish by the hand over date which obviously turned out to be pointless as there were chippies & painters etc there in the following few...
