    Starting up while employed

Apologies I did not mention that in my original post. It was the VAT on the materials that he wanted sorting out. I also mentioned offering labour only but he wants me to provide one cost which includes labour and materials. I take on board what everyone has said and I am trying to get...

    Starting up while employed

The builder is vat registered so he's saying I need to be unfortunately. I have not checked the t&cs but I assume they would not approve. Iam not approaching any of their clients (it's a friend of the family) so I don't see why it's that bad. If all went well I would go full time on my own...

    Starting up while employed

Hi there, I have a question which I'm struggling to get an answer. I have spoken with 2 accountants but both of them want me to sign up with them for £40 a month before they will tell me what is the best approach. I am currently employed and take home 44k PAYE. I have been doing some labour...

    Cable Calculation Question

Thanks for the replies. As the cable run is so far they're wanting to install a 63 amp supply which will leave some room for future installs. So just for future reference when installing a sub main, do I calculate at the protective device size? Im also looking to install a separate earth cable.

    Cable Calculation Question

Hi there, Just after some advice for a submain/DB I’m quoting. A client has asked for a 12way TP board to be installed in a warehouse and the length of run is 150 meters. Section panel I’m coming from has a ZE of 0.05. MCCB will be a Square D CDAE 63A so max zs 0.68 at 5 second. Here’s my...

    Volt drop

Hi I've a few questions regarding volt drop. Apologies if its a little longwinded but I'd like to get my head around everything. An example scenario is a section board with a TP sub main to lighting and power board (DB2) Calculations for circuit : Supply Voltage = 400 Volts Ib - Design...

That makes sense, cheers for clearing things up

    Volt drop question

    Thats a fair point. So if I went for a 50mm: mV/A/m 0.93 for 230v Voltdrop = (mV/A/m x Length x Design current) / 1000 Voltdrop = ( 0.93 x 75 x 100 ) / 1000 Voltdrop = 6.98 Volts Which gives some breathing space. So is this correct to use the 230V values? Are the 400v values only used on...

    Volt drop question

Hi I've got a question regarding volt drop. When calculating volt drop to a 3 phase distribution board do I use 230v (11.5v) or 400v (20v) The board I'm attempting to put a cable to is 75 meters away. Design current 100A From TABLE 4D4A Cable selected = 25 mm² For 25 mm²: mV/A/m 1.75 for 230v...

    PA question

Sorry for being a bit brief on my initial post, it was all I could remember. The system was just a crazy rig up with twist connections everywhere! After ripping it to bits and testing as suggested, it turned out to be the input aux cable that was faulty! Doh! I didn't check it because the amp...
