    Insulated tools yes or no....

    No insulated screwdrivers here never seen the need. Side cutters yes. Don’t have pliers at work only loose them. Maybe it’s because I am old and we never had them when I was an apprentice.

    Bond or no bond ? that is the question .

    So we don’t need to bond the gas if plastic incoming. But the gas regs says it must be bonded. Usual regulation cock up.

    calculation check before i rip the flat to bits.

    We had a job a while back it had a bit of wet string (ok it looked about 2.5 but in old money)from the incoming cable sheath to the earth terminal we asked the DNO to replace it. They flatly refused say that the checked Ze and it was only 0.24 ohms so was ok.

    Stupid positioning of consumer units...

    I had one half inside and half outside a kitchen cupboard, as in sticks through the worktop. Had to remove the worktop to reset the MCB’s Coded it on an ECR but tenet refused to let us move it.

    Just a thought the water I assume will be heated by a metal immersion heater so could become live if the earth to it is connected to a pme terminal.

    I agree with using Dormer drill bits and use cutting compound and they will really last.

    We did a flat conversion from an office block to 10 flats. UK Power would only supply a 400A head and it was our problem to fit a chamber with henly fuses inside it and run tails to where the meters were.
