advice on installation of solar panels

JA panels are the better choice. Solis are popular but not as good quality, and not as well supported in the UK, as SolaX. Talk to the installer about load management (maximising self-consumption using devices such as the immersion controllers mentioned - Eddi by MyEnergi is a VERY good...

    Tail sizes from PV sub-board

Nuisance tripping "might" be a problem when sharing an RCD, but that's the least of the potential issues. More likely (when using transformerless inverters) is that the Type-AC RCD (usually fitted in residential CUs) might become saturated and never trip under fault conditions. That's in...

NEED Legal advice - solar system malfunctioning

Jason's a good guy, he'll give good advice if you let him have a look. As for "Project Solar".....yuk....caveat emptor....

Inverter Packed up, Advise on a replacement and someone in South Wales to install please?

I would suggest you consider the SolaX X1-3.0T Boost unit, it has twin trackers, the voltage range is ideal, will cost you less and will have a 10yr warranty. They have very good support here with their UK office in Nuneaton.

Flat roof mounting system (5 degree tilt)

You could have a look at the K2 speedrail kit, with the "MiniFive" upstands, which would raise up the panels by 5 degrees.

    Solar PV Immersion diverter

We're bringing in initial stocks of the MyEnergi Eddi, as mentioned by Worcester. If you want a comparison against iBoost, see below. Really is like comparing apples with pears...

    Export Limitation

Gavin's correct - our independent electro-mechanical failsafe can simply shut down the inverter if the absolute export threshold is breached. However, if no comms link to the inverters is present then, technically, you are not fully compliant with the ER G100 framework, which requires "granular...

SunPower E20 with P300 SolarEdge Power Optimizer?

Doesn't sound good....certainly not a good choice of optimiser for those panels, P500 would have been ideal for a 96cell module. I would give the benefit of the doubt to the installer though, they may have believed they were installing the correct units, perhaps didn't even do the design...

    Solar PV Module characteristics

ok, understood. In that case, if you do find that the measured Isc value doesn't reflect the extrapolated value expected, based on the environmental factors present, then that would typically indicate cell or module power issues, which would need to be investigated on a panel by panel basis...

    Solar PV Module characteristics

Ok, are you still getting the voltage values you would expect, under load and also open-circuit? At 45C cell temp, and around 800W/m2 irradiance, you should be getting more than 3A I would expect. Are you sure about those temp/irradiance values though?

    Solar PV Module characteristics

Can you describe how you are performing the test on each string?

    Solar PV Module characteristics

Module nameplate values are based on STC (standard test conditions) which are typically 1000W/m2 irradiance, 25degreeC cell temperature and air mass of 1.5. In order to determine whether your measured Isc in reality is in line with the manufacturer's declarations you need to measure the...

Reverse polarity when PV inverter switched on!?

What inverter was this? And what make/model/type of RCD was fitted? I know it's a couple of weeks since the thread, but I am curious and haven't been on here for a while, thanks.

Panel Outputs. A newbie needs some advice please.

The newer version 1kW unit has the reduced min MPPT voltage value, was implemented about 2yrs ago if memory serves, I can check if necessary
