My mums house was rewired in 1975 and she's never had any problems. However as she's getting older and dementia has set in I'm in the process of updating her CU.
Mainly because she'll struggle to replace a fuse wire but there's also the greater likelihood, due to her illness, that she'll try and use the toaster in the bath.

If the instalation is in good shape for it's age ?

Then suggest to him it could be better with the extra RCD
Give him the options and costs and let him decide !
