Just bought myself a new cable tracer:cheesy:- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Greenlee-80...d=1433880525&sr=8-2-fkmr0&keywords=tempo+801k

I purchased the same sort of setup from maplin a fortnight ago and the thing was bloody awful. It was some cheapo chinese waste of human resource. It could even tone a cable 30cm from origin. My boss has one of the earlier models of the tempo and its served him well for about 8 years. It works well on all sorts of cables from data, cat5, bt, t&e, swa and alarm even buried cables. The range is unbelievable, i remember as an apprentice stood about 300m away trying to tone a cable in the rain and it worked. The setup is albeit basic but it just works and works very well. I was looking at the Martindale cd100 but thought it was a tad too expensive. If your looking for a cheap alternative look no further.

Geez these things have been around many years, I have the exact same set which I bought maybe 10 years ago. They work well.
