EICR or Minor Works???

Just a quick one.. I have been to a job today where the shower isolator switch had burnt out, as it wasn't RCD protected I replaced the switch with a 1 way consumer unit with an RCD.

My question is..do I need to do a full EIC or would a minor works do?

Sorry didn’t reread the OP correctly.
New 1 way CU = EIC and notification for Part P.
New enclosure containing new RCD = MEWIC.

Changing a cu or adding a cu constitutes an EIC and notification even if you don't make any additions or alterations to any circuits coming of that cu.

Yes, it is suitable for (on -load) Isolation, Emergency Switching and Functional switching.

Why did you not fit an RCD in an enclosure the circuit should already have a protective device at the circuit origin so from that perspective I can see why members are saying EIC as a new circuit. I assume this existing burnt out switch was either outside the bathroom or in an adj cupboard. I agree with Pete on what is wrong with adding an RCD to increase the level of safety. It's MW but there would be nothing wrong with issuing an EIC just more paperwork.

You haven't wired a new circuit, you have altered an existing circuit MNW

I could kind of see where ESSEX was sort of coming from as switchgear rather than an accessory a subdistribution circuit has been made hence why saying EIC if an RCD in an enclosure replaced the isolation switch it would have been a straight MW.Still agree though can be MW for what's done.

Yes check out table 53.4 however below on indent (5) advises against frequent load switching of a 60898 device.
