I work for an Niceic company and have never heard such a thing.
If you aren’t allowed to test live then there’s no point in testing at all and providing a certificate of compliance in accordance with bs7671.
The NICEIC would never impose this on their contractors.
They may advise calculating ZS rather than direct live measurement but they can’t enforce this.

There is no way the NICEIC will suggest not pressing a button on a loop impedence tester is fine because the reading is not required, total bull ----.

I have been in the NICEIC for 26 years, I couldn't give a monkeys arm pit about what tony cable says, the inspector who I used to deal with would insist on live test results.
And he finished last year too. Agree...absolute crap....and I've been in for 30 years.

Yep very true, I have never heard so much rubbish in one reply lol, "dead tests are not a requirement lol", next we will be told toast can be made without heat lol.

The NIC prefer one live test carried out a source (Ze), the remainder can be by calculation from dead test results. They like it this way as it reduces the risk to the tester etc etc etc.

Where do you get this information? I am happy to talk to the local NICEIC engineer about your views when I go to a meeting next time. Can you E-Mail me your membership number and company registration number so I can ask them to look into your claims?

IT takes all the fun out of perching on a step ladder with your meter prongs up a in rose hole! My tester won't be much please to hear this, I'm very protective over her! There there, don't listen to the nasty men!

Maybe that's for NICEIC testers who aren't confident about testing live.....or don't know what WTF they're doing.

Nah, impossible, how can you install a circuit and not do a live test on it? Strima is having a laugh with us, you'll see he will come on in a minute with a cheeky grin, surely lol.

I got it direct from my area engineer around three years ago.

Doesn't mean to say I listened to him does it?

Well to be fair I do like and respect you Strima and always have, but I would suggest your engineer is a numpty and lets be fair you know it as well lol, so based on that please don't back the muppet up, whats his name so I can humiliate him at the next NICEIC meeting I attend?
