BORED!!!

The last few weeks I've been scrolling through new posts and most aren't too dissimilar from the mundane title of this one, either that or someone bleeting on about Part Pee. Where have all the meaty debates gone? I need something to get my teeth in to, whatever the subject!

Eng, WP, Tel, Archy, DW, MDJ, Glenn, Geordie, Guitarist, Tazz, Tony, Brucelee, Rocker, Rockingit, Markiesparkie, Widdler, dare I say it.. Biff, hell.. even Cockburn!!!... Where are you all????

p.s. Sorry if you didn't get a mention, there are too many to name!

In hibernation.

One day the dinosaurs will rule the earth again. There’s a lot of pray for us to feed on when we wake up.

Dave Cockburn would run rings around most of the new members.

PS I got to page three of his book before I was falling about laughing.

At least the idiot gives us something to talk about! More than can be said for some of the more recent posts!

Must admit finding lack of good meaty post frustrating as most members are now sending me pm`s for help with fire......Although I m OND in electrical engineering and not Electrical Trainee, i`m still out of date with new regs, being only 15th & 16th edition ...but as you know 2 way lightning and intermediate lightning, or wiring in general does not really change. its a shame really because some of my pms have been really good and challanging and would have been great posts. As to some recent posts, im finding it hard not to be sarcastic with some of the unbelievable comments, from members who are supposed to be qualified....

how do you wire a plug again?

Most Electrical Trainee do it this away...

Sorry just trying to up my post count.
I do find it interesting though the amount of abuse people get for asking questions which don't appease the more regular members. I agree some of the questions can be vague or fundamental, but this forum doesn't require BEng or Fellowship to an Institute, it just requires people to post questions to problems they don't have, no matter how trivial they may seem sometimes you or other regular members.

Grasshopper.....for one to give an answer....... there must first be a question...!!!
Lesson No 2....many post = post count= - thanks count....

It's not the trivial questions that annoy me, it's the sheer lazyness of some people who are totally unwilling to use the search function whereby they would find that 99.9% of trivia has been answered a thousand times over!

I understand your quest into getting the OP's to think a little more when asking questions, getting them to try and work questions out for themselves, but I find it frustrating when I read replies by some members which clearly go beyond encouraging a thought process but end becoming patronising and often downright nasty and bullish.

Lesson No 3.....give me a productive question....and I would be more than happy to help....will even cad you a schematic diagram

You'll probably find that the majority of short tempered answers, not all, but the majority, are posted in reply to questions such as; "Hi, I am an electrician, how do I connect up a wire in a consumer unit, shall I crimp it or use a connector block?"

It's the deskilling of the industry that is fuel for our short tempered replies. If someone is a trainee and is wanting to learn then most of us are happy to help provided they have used the search function prior to asking their question.

Lesson number 5: if you're a Electrical Trainee don't introduce yourself on here as an electrician and then ask questions even a year one apprentice could answer! Put 'trainee' in your job title and most will be willing to help.
