Think the builder ripped the earth rod out... Whatever happened there's not an earth now. Instead of installing a new one am I allowed to take the neutral from the metre and connect a main earthing conductor in a henley block.
The street does have pme available, I checked. Is it legal though???

Was the original earthing scheme TT? I would reinstall a nice new rod and if you have problems getting a decent Ra value then look at converting to TNCS. I'd assume you'd need to contact the DNO or energy resaler with regard to PME'ing the installation.

Your not an experienced qualified electrician are you??

The answer to both your questions is NO!!!

awww shame. was just getting into my stride.

what next? "oh i have overhead lines passing through the bottom of my back garden, am i allowed to throw a big chain up to feed the garden shed"? :)

I'd like to know which scheme thekernal is registered with if any. These are the people let loose on the public it beggars belief. Changing DNO's earthing arrangement to PME why not lol. I think by asking the question you know it's wrong you just want someone to say go on ...........just do it...........put your head in the fire it won't hurt......lol............do whatever you want, law what law.....................Earth what earth get the builder to get another barrow load of earth............He's the one who lost the earth lol

cant see a problem with this mate ! crack on !

The Romans used to build grain stores on top of mushroom shaped plinths. Now if you were to replace the plinths with insulators you could do as you suggest. But remember to have the steps up to the house made of a good hardwood that is varnished.

Let us know how you go on.

PS. You need plastic service pipes.
