Hi guys,

I've just completed a job in moving 14 plastic / rubber injection moulding machines from their old factory up to their new unit, most have been supplied with 100A / 125A fuses from the busbar down to a local ISO and into the machine just to give an idea of the size of the install. Half of them could've been supplied by 63A / 80A to be fair but I had lots of 35mm 4 core laying around to use :)

My question is this.....

There was an old PFC unit that they want re-installing into the new building, but how do I figure out that it's actually suitable / efficient if I do install it?

Half the machines don't have details and 5 of them are stepped down to 110V with their own local transformers.

Cheers for any help in advance peeps

Go and hire in a 3 phase power anlayzer, do a 24h / 7d day power quality survey at the main meter position. This will let you know if PF correction is required, the kit will also tell you if the PF unit still works, see what happens when you turn it off and on at light load.

Cheers I'll give them a call once I know what I want.

I have a few pics of what came out and what it's going into. Because the new factory main supply has been terminated with two single cores run in parallel, the existing clamp meter won't fit round the two cores. Can I get a new clamp to suit and wire it back to the new unit? If so what is it that I'm looking for?

A reasonable starting point might be that the existing PFC was correctly sized and should be good for the relocated equipment.
