Hi,

Ive recently passed my 2391-52 and want to change my consumer unit at home. I’m not a gold card electrician but have completed my 2365, 18th Edition and have a good understanding of how things work. Unfortunately I was unable to get a portfolio done as I went in to maintenance.

Anyway my question is what are the steps for me to change the board and sign it off as I’m employed and don’t have a business.

thanks in advance

Inform building control your about to do it. They will inspect it prior and again after.
you will have to do the work and the testing and building control will either check the work and certificates themselves or get an outside electrician to do this.
there is a charge for this. Various councils will charge different/amounts. Anything between £150-£250.

Another option is to find someone near you that does third party certification (TPC). Some Napit members do this, there's a search form on the website to find them.
